My pc speaker set was actually 11 speakers but I had a previous set, the identical same thing, after a few years the amplifier for it quit so I bought the same exact model again and decided to use some of the spare speakers for the rear to get the rear channels louder. Sadly the surround is flawed for ME1 and ME2 but it's acceptable but still poorly done but this is almost definitely because ME1 and ME2 were ported from console to PC, I believe. If that is the case then that would be why some things are sloppy because most people that play games on consoles do not use surround sound so I assume ensuring surround is great is not a priority for games originally made for consoles.
I sure am glad that it is very rare for speakers to quit because I would not know what to do with myself if these quit. This model is not new at all, i've had these for many years and they're still perfect in my opinion. I've looked before and it's harder to find this quality of surround pc speakers for the price I paid. I only paid $80 for these new at best buy, many years ago but still, last time I looked the closest match was around $100 but most speaker sets are only 6 speakers. These have 2 small speakers in each enclosure so that's where I got the number of 11 originally. two front ones have 4 speakers, same for rear and two speakers in the center channel enclosure and one woofer.
Amazingly this 5in woofer produces bass as if it were an 8 or 10in subwoofer. I don't think I could ever go back to no surround sound, surround has saved my life several times in games that properly make use of it. I remember some FPS games where I could hear enemies coming behind me or whatever and because of the surround I knew where they were and could turn around and get them before they got me but without surround you'd never know where they were coming from sometimes.
